ART KIT DONATION:
A charitable contribution to underprivilaged children in Mexico.

Students of Frida Kahlo Secondaria School in Barra de Potosi, Mexico do not have Art Classes. How can that be?

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING ONE ART KIT PACKET OR TWO FOR THESE CHILDREN IN NEED.  $36.each

I am honored to volunteer my art teaching skills to twenty four enthusiastic middle school students for six weeks at the Frida Kahlo Secondaria School in Barra de Potosi, Mexico with hopes it may inspire them to continue creating in the visual arts. This contribution can help a child build confidence, improve problem solving skills, explore self expression with the will to further explore the arts that could change their lives. Barra de Potosi is a small fishing village, 20 minutes south of Zihuantanejo, Guerrero, Mexico.

I packed several suitcases full of art supplies for my two month trip, including twelve donated Art Kit Packets. It would be amazing to have enough donated kits for all 24 of the children to use and have available for more art classes after I return to the U.S. The Art Kits contain three value drawing pencils, pencil sharpener, eraser, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, watercolor pad, and a waterproof zippered bag. If we fundraise more money than what the kits cost, it will be donated to the school for extra art materials.

The Frida Kahlo School is the only school in this small authentic Mexican village. It only goes up through 8th grade. Very few students are able to further their education. They are not able to afford uniforms and the bus ride to and from high school each day to the city of Zihuantanejo. Many families can not read. They depend on their children to help read Spanish and possibly speak some English. This contribution may help a child build confidence, problem solving skills, self expression, and the will to further explore the arts into adulthood. I am a firm believer that one simple experience in life can change us and our lives going forward,
Please consider donating just even one art packet for only $36. ea.

We have already had a lot of fun learning together. Several of the students have expressed the desire to keep the art supplies, especially the pencil sharpeners, which do not exit in Mexico. They are so very limited here with facilities and materials. They will be working with pencil, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, watercolors, learning several different techniques and ways of expression.

We hope to exhibit some of their work at the Barra de Potosi Spring Fair on February,  2024.

Thank You for your contribution.  It means more than you can imagine from the children, their families, and the school. We grow richer every time we give of ourselves.

The Frida Kahlo School was named after the well known Mexican female artist, Frida Kahlo. She is remembered for her self-portraits, pain and passion, and bold, vibrant colors. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and indigenous culture and by her depiction of the female experience and form.

Loretta inspires her students with 35 years of painting and teaching experience with live painting demos, individual instruction, personal guidance, group critiques, and workshops. All levels and mediums.
